Steve Machin

Keyboard Teacher Steve teaches Piano and Keyboard at Derby School of Music, and has been teaching music for over 20 years.

Steve started learning to play the keyboard from the age of 15 and was soon jumping up the grades. He attained his Bachelors Degree from Loughborough University in 1996, and was subsequently awarded an Honorary Fellowship with the Victoria College of Music in London, in 1998. This is the highest accolade awarded by any Music College in the UK. Steve then went on to study a PGCE at Nottingham Trent University.

As well as a highly qualified teacher, Steve is also an accomplished performer having performed in many bands along with regular solo recitals, the highlight being a performance in front of the Dubai Royal Family. Music is Steve's passion as well as his job. He believes his passion for music is a major contributing factor to the success of his pupils. Steve is registered with all the relevant music teaching bodies as well as having completed the NSPCC course in child protection.
